First off, if you’re hesitant about getting fit at True Spec Golf, JUST DO IT! In the 5+ years of golfing, my only regret is not coming to see Julie sooner! Background: I’ve watched countless TXG and Elite Performance Golf fitting videos on YouTube, so it’s fair to say I had pre-conceived expectations (i.e., high standards) going into any fitting. In my head, I knew my first experience needed the following: 1) Outdoor range 2) Premium fitting facilities 3) Various shaft/head selections 4) Master club fitter In my opinion, getting to hit at an outdoor range is crucial, as watching your ball flight in person provides a much better experience than hitting into a screen. The mat provided was large and plush with no excessive wear or deep impressions. The high-tech GC Quad machine displayed essential data on a large monitor, located just to the side of the hitting bay, which was convenient. With this outdoor range setup, you get the best of both worlds by watching your ball flight in real time, as well as the data to check your numbers. The entire fitting facility felt top-notch. From the hitting bay, you transition to a nicely covered private patio with comfortable chairs to rest between hitting. As you step into the equipment facilities room, you feel like you’re on the PGA tour with all the different shafts, grips, and club heads available at your disposal. Inside was clean, well-organized, and resembled a professional studio made just for golf. The golf equipment junkie inside me was overwhelmed by the various selections, but in a good way. Above all else, Julie was outstanding as a fitter, period, end of story. There were some nerves in the beginning, but they quickly disappeared as Julie began asking questions about my game during my warm-up (i.e., why I was getting fitted, what I liked about my clubs, shot shape preference, etc). Before I knew it, I felt completely relaxed, and it was just another day of golf. Arguably, the most impressive part of the fitting was how Julie seamlessly read me like an open book. She instinctively knew that I wasn’t hitting my driver fully and attributed the hesitation in my swing to using the wrong equipment. As we went through different setup combinations, she explained in great detail why she’d swap the head or shaft of what I was testing and knew right away if either wasn’t right for me. Sure enough, we found a setup that began clicking with my swing, rather than working against it. And as I started to trust the driver more, naturally, my swing speed also started getting a little quicker. In all honesty, I can’t remember the last time I was that excited about hitting my driver and seeing the potential for more speed, distance, and consistency. By this point, I was sold on whatever Julie recommended, but even then, she was still considerate of what my budget was; more importantly, I never felt any pressure to make a purchase. Thanks, Julie! This experience was on par with those top-tier fitting videos that made me consider getting fitted in the first place, and I had an absolute blast during the entire process. I can’t wait to get my hands on my new Qi4D Max driver that was fitted for my swing! When I decide to get fitted for the rest of my clubs, I’ll be sure to visit Julie at True Spec Golf!
